For the last four or five years, it has become tradition to attend the local Veteran's Day parade. Last year James was so excited about everything, and this year did not disappoint with his excitement level. Sam is a little young to appreciate much of the parade, but he did get a kick out of the go-carts and sirens...essentially the louder festivities. One set of grandparents joined us for the parade as did my brother (who served in Iraq) and his family. This is a simple way to introduce Veteran's Day to children, and one in which they enjoy and someday will appreciate all the more as they become old enough to understand what the day is for.
Thank you to everyone who has served to protect our country. Also a BIG thank you for those who have sacrificed everything. My heart goes out to the families that have lost a dear loved one.
